Le Chéile Credit Union (Athboy & Oldcastle) Schools Quiz 2026

And what a night we had! Across 2 venues 356 young minds came together to battle it out to see who would be the Le Chéile School quiz champions for 2026. The winners in the under 11 category were O'Growney National School, followed closely by St Columbanus Ballivor and in 3rd place O'Growney. The under 13 winners were St Columbanus Ballivor, 2nd Killyon Hill of Down and 3rd St Columbanus Ballivor. The pictures below tell their own story.

Both 1^st placed in each category now progress to the regional final taking place in The Lakeside Manor Hotel Virginia Co Cavan on Friday 6^th March 2026 @ 7.30pm.

Teams competing included, Ballinlough NS, Clonmellon NS, Coolronan NS Ballivor, Gilson NS Oldcastle, Killyon NS, Kilskyre NS, O’Growney NS, Rathmore NS, Scoil Mhuire Moylagh, Scoil Uí Ghramhnaigh Rathcairn, St Columbanus Ballivor, St Dympna’s NS Kildalkey, St Ernan’s Delvin, St Fiach’s NS Ballinacree, St Joseph’s NS Dunderry, St Mary’s Castlerahan, St Patrick’s Crowenstown & St Ultan’s Bohermeen.

Nick Murphy ,CEO, speaking afterwards thanked The Darnley Lodge Hotel and St St.Oliver Post Primary School for hosting, the CU volunteers and staff that make it all happen. MCs Cllr David Gilroy and Graham Wood and all  parents and teachers for all your support for this annual event.
